Privacy Policy

Overview
PingLater is a browser extension that helps you snooze tabs and get reminded about them later. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data.
TL;DR: Free PingLater keeps everything on your device — no tracking, no account. Optional Cloud Sync (Pro) only syncs your PingLater data to our server after you activate a license.
Data Collection
The extension itself does not collect your data.
By default (free, local mode) PingLater does not:
- Collect personal information from your browsing
- Track your browsing history
- Send your tabs, notes, or reminders to our servers
- Use analytics or tracking tools inside the extension
- Store extension data outside your browser
Optional PingLater Pro (Cloud Sync): only if you purchase and activate a license, the extension contacts our sync backend (Supabase) to activate/validate the license, manage devices, and sync snoozed tabs, sessions, history, categories, and settings across your devices. That backend talks to Lemon Squeezy’s License API on the server. Free local use never requires this.
Optional Uninstall Feedback
If you uninstall PingLater, Chrome may open an optional feedback page on pinglater.app/uninstall. We only receive what you choose to submit (for example, reasons you select and an optional comment). Nothing is sent if you close the page without submitting.
What We Don't Collect by Default
In free (local) mode, the following is never logged, exported, or transmitted — not even for crash reports or debugging:
- URLs you visit or snooze
- Tab titles or page content
- Your reminders and notes
- Your categories and settings
- Any user actions or usage patterns
With Cloud Sync (Pro) activated, snoozed tabs, sessions, history, categories, and settings are synced to our backend so your other devices can pull them. We still don't use analytics or ad tracking. You can disconnect Pro anytime in Settings.
Data Storage
All data created by PingLater (your snoozed tabs, reminders, categories, and settings)
is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API
(chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync).
About Chrome Sync
If you have Chrome Sync enabled in your browser, some of your settings (categories, preferences) may be synced across your devices through your Google account. Important: This syncing is handled entirely by Google/Chrome — PingLater has no access to or control over this data transfer.
When Chrome Sync is enabled, your data leaves your local device via Google's servers (not PingLater's). For information about how Google handles this data, please refer to Google's Chrome Sync privacy documentation.
If you prefer to keep all data strictly local, you can disable Chrome Sync in your browser settings.
Permissions Explained
PingLater requests the following browser permissions:
- tabs — To read the current tab's URL and title only when you choose to snooze it. We do not monitor, log, or access any tabs you don't explicitly snooze.
- alarms — To schedule reminders that fire at the times you set
- notifications — To show reminder notifications when your snoozed tabs are ready
- storage — To save your snoozed tabs and settings locally on your device
- contextMenus — To add right-click menu options for quick snoozing
-
Optional host access (Pro only) — When you activate a Pro license, Chrome may ask
for permission to contact our sync API host (
*.supabase.co). This is not required for free local use.
Core permissions are used solely to provide the extension's local functionality.
About Chrome's "Read Browsing History" Warning
When you install PingLater, Chrome may show a warning that says "Read your browsing history." This is a standard Chrome warning that appears for any extension requesting the "tabs" permission.
What this actually means for PingLater: We only access information about the specific tab you choose to snooze (its URL and title). We do not browse, monitor, or store your browsing history. The "tabs" permission is required to know which tab you want to snooze — nothing more.
Third-Party Services
Free / local mode: the extension works offline and does not call analytics or advertising platforms.
Optional Pro license / Cloud Sync: Checkout opens Lemon Squeezy in the browser. The extension itself only calls our hosted API (Supabase Edge Functions); the server validates license keys with Lemon Squeezy and stores license/device metadata and sync payloads for your Pro license (up to 5 devices). You can disconnect devices in Settings. Checkout and billing portal pages are Lemon Squeezy, not PingLater servers.
The “What We Never Collect” list above applies to free local mode. With Pro activated, we necessarily process your license key, device id/name, and (from Lemon) customer email associated with the license on our backend.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it:
- Uninstalling the extension will remove all associated data
- You can clear history and pending reminders from within the extension
- Clearing Chrome's extension data will also remove all PingLater data
Children's Privacy
PingLater is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
